Rapid Wien
SK Rapid Wien is one of the oldest and most successful football clubs in Austria. It was founded on January 8, 1899, originally named 1. Wiener Arbeiter-Fußball-Club, and later that same year changed its name to Sportklub Rapid. Based in Vienna, the club is known for its green and white colors and has a strong working-class identity, often referred to as a peoples club. Rapid has one of the most passionate fanbases in the country, with organized supporter groups like the Tornados; famous for their choreographies and loyalty.
The club won its first Austrian championship in 1912 and went on to dominate Austrian football throughout the early 20th century. During the period of Nazi annexation (Anschluss), Rapid competed in the German league system and remarkably won the German championship in 1941, as well as the German Cup. After World War II, Rapid continued to thrive domestically, regularly claiming league titles and establishing itself as a powerhouse in Austrian football.
